Forgiveness Handcrafted Wooden Mask
Description
We are in love with this forgiveness handcrafted wooden mask. Created by artisans from indigenous communities in Colombia while portraying powerful thoughts onto their material creations. This wall decor art is beautiful, unique, and full of meaning.
This design captures the life of the Kamentsa indigenous people of Colombia, their culture, traditions, and beliefs.
The expressions and facial gestures represent the feelings of the community during their “Big Day” or Carnival of Forgiveness. This day marks the beginning of the year, and a moment of celebration, to give thanks for all the gifts given by Mother Earth. During this celebration people dance, sing, play musical instruments, share food and wear their traditional clothes.
The colors represent their feelings and emotions, their happiness and joy, and. The sacred patterns embody the visions they have when doing their sacred ceremonies with their traditional medicine.
