A one of a kind dress, the Michelle dress is a total show stopper. Made out of coffee bags and upcycled fabric. Sylvia Calvo’s motto is ” From Waste to Value”. And there is no better way to show that there is no such thing as waste. It is just a label we give to things, especially when you lack the skills and creativity to keep on transforming them.Read More
Coffee bags are made of jute. A natural fiber that doesn’t normally have any pesticides. Coffee manufacturers use these coffee sacks only once when transporting the coffee between countries. So virtually the coffee bags are in good condition when they reach Sylvia’s atelier. Yet they will be destined to be burned or end in a landfill. Don’t think these unique clothes are rough or scratchy. The inside lining uses soft and gentle materials that your skin will love. Plus, the jute is great to give volume to your fashion voice. We have more upcycled coffee bags clothes. Check this Jacket or this other skirt available at our showroom in Dubai. Be unique!

ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Sylvia Calvo, born in Barcelona, studied English Philology at the University of Barcelona and obtained her MBA at Keller Graduate School of Management of Chicago, USA, where she lived for about 15 years. She always wanted to study fashion design, and it was after attending a conference about Eco-Fashion in 2012, that her concept about the fashion and textile industry changed completely. She started to investigate, read, and learn about sustainable fashion and the alternatives available to have a more positive social, environmental, and economic impact. Sustainable and Circular Fashion is an alternative to Fast Fashion and can go hand in hand with stylish unique designs and good values.
In 2015, she launched the brand working mainly with used coffee bags. The idea is to transform them into garments and accessories applying Circular Economy principles. In 2013, she co-founded the non-profit Association “Moda Sostenible Barcelona” (MSBCN). The first association of this kind, to promote the benefits of sustainable fashion. Sylvia is now a board member of ModaFAD, as well as the Gremi Artesà Tèxtil de Catalunya, and a member of the Circular Economy commission at PIMEC.
